Mathematical Engineer · MSc in Data Science

Work experience

United Nations — ECLAC

CENIA · CIREN · University of Chile

  • Research Assistant (2026—present). We work on geo-foundation model research within a joint CENIACIRENUCH initiative.

University of Chile

  • Adjunct Lecturer · Graduate School (2025—present). I teach the Deep Generative Models course in the MSc in Data Science program, covering topics ranging from LLMs and agents to diffusion models and flow matching.

  • Data Scientist · Data and Artificial Intelligence Initiative (2025—2026). I worked at IDIA as a data scientist and data engineer on two internal projects for the Ministry of Culture.

Rial AI

  • Researcher and Data Engineer (2025—2026). I worked at Rial AI on diffusion models and cloud-based agents for the structured generation of high-quality images.

Inria Chile

  • Research Assistant (2023). At Inria Chile we worked on optimizing neural architectures for PINNs using genetic algorithms guided by Gaussian processes.

Education

University of Chile — Mathematical Engineering

Undergraduate degree in applied mathematics with a specialization in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Graduated with highest distinction.

University of Chile — MSc in Data Science

Specialization in generative AI. Thesis on Schrödinger bridges, a recent paradigm that generalizes diffusion models. Graduated with highest distinction.

University of Chile — MSc in Computer Science

Continuing my specialization in generative AI, with research on LLM interpretability (the symbolic–positional behavior of attention heads).

Additional information

Academic background

  • Scholarship recipient of the Educational Program for Children and Youth with Academic Talents (PROENTA) at Universidad de La Frontera.

  • Top places for four consecutive years in the Regional Mathematics Olympiad and the Regional Physics Olympiad. Also top places (individual and team) in El Juego de Aprender, the Applied Mathematics Olympiad, and the Inter-regional Mathematics Games.

  • Contributed to creating and reviewing problems for the Regional Mathematics Olympiad and to editing the annual olympiad problem book.

  • Helped improve the teaching material of the Machine Learning course, extending the existing lecture notes and creating lecture slides.

Other activities

  • I am writing a generative AI blog in Spanish, aiming to lower the language barrier in the field.

  • I regularly implement papers as an ongoing personal exercise, which has given me a solid background in deep learning and generative AI.

  • I volunteered teaching mathematics at Liceo Herbert Vargas Wallis (Santiago Penitentiary).
